- Softball Conditioning Drills – Z Ball and Pitching Machines
These are two of my teams favorite softball conditioning drills. These softball drills make practice fun while still being effective.
- Softball Drills – Overhead Wall Ball
This is one of our favorite softball drills. It is called: Overhead Wall Ball. This softball drill is used to teach how to catch a ball that goes overhead and past you. It can also be used by experienced players to perfect this skill.
- Softball Drills – Relay Drill & Fielding Drill
These softball drills are a couple of the tried and true ones. They have been around a long time because they WORK. Give them a try!
- Softball Skills and Drills – Pull the Trigger
This is a softball skills and drills game that our team plays at the end of softball practice. It allows us to apply the fielding and hitting skills that we worked on during the earlier part of practice in a more practical game type situation.
- Softball Practice Plans – Pre Practice Warm Ups
This is a tip I have used for softball practice plans for years. One of the things that works for me is this. At every practice I have one player lead a series of stretches prior to the starting our softball drills.
- Youth Softball – What Base is Next?
While coaching youth softball, I found that my younger softball players, 4 & 5 year olds especially, had some trouble with the bases and knowing where to go. You need to go to the fundamentals before you start your basic softball drills!

This is one of the softball practice drills that works as a conditioning drill as well as honing your players' softball skills. This softball drill is really fast and gives the girls an opportunity to move like they would in a game situation.
- Drills for Girls Softball – Basketballs & Golf Balls
These drills for girls softball are ones I used with my U18 softball team. I try to make softball practice fun while improving softball skills at the same time.
- Youth Softball Drills – 4 vs 4 vs 4 Scrimmage
One of the youth softball drills that I use with my 12 person 9 & 10 year old softball team is to conduct a scrimmage using the format of 4 vs 4 vs 4. This works well because I can field an entire infield and a couple of outfielders.
